This is the first of a new series I am working on.A more subdued and earthy palette for me. I've had a leaning toward earthy greens.burnt sienna..rusty muted colors the past month. Now this is a real change for me. These new paintings are all abstract expressionist..inspired by dreams, the seasons and full moons.

Inspiration: The inspiration for this painting . I am a Registered nurse and although my specialty field was psychiatry I also worked several years in labor and delivery, the ER and general medicine. I have always enjoyed reading books written from the medical practitioners point of view in times prior to modern medicine and hearing accounts from my own grandmother who was a nurse in the 1930s and 40's. The blight of women and women's health issues left much to be desired in those days and often little more than folk medicine. Thus the inspiration for this collage was women's health issues before modern medicine as we know it.

An original mixed media collage painting utilizing painting, collaged papers in multiple layers built up one upon another,gel medium on a gallery wrapped hand stretched canvas. The painting is finished in a soft layer of beeswax lending to the vintage look of the piece.

ELEMENTALS 36"x24" Knife Painting

New Painting Elementals fro the ELEMENTS SERIES..it finally dried...5 layers on this one all knife painted..lots of extreme texture and movement.Subdued palette(for me)blues and browns..with hints of musturd and green peeking through in spots. On etsy starting tonight.

Synchronicity is off to Paris

I just sold this painting to someone in Paris..I'm always amazed when someone who lives in the art capital of the world buys my art. This painting is "Synchronicity", 24" x36" and painted with painting knives and drips straight from the tube..no brushes were used.

Finished custom oil painting

I finished a custom oil painting 40"x32" for a client..this was painted over a period of 3 weeks in layers of 7-8 glazes and topped off with touches of impasto in the foliage. It's on the drying wall now.I really enjoyed painting this one..I love painting in oil glazes.

I haven't posted in so long.. can't keep motivated with the blog..wonder whats the point..if it's boring to ME..it must be boring to others.

have been so busy with custom orders..which is good but itching to work on my mixed media/collage paintings.I have bought so many new supplies and already had a studio full.

so many idea and new things to try. Trying some new image transfer techniques with caulk and acetone transfers..the Lazertran transfers are delicate but turned out well.
